Collection: Carrots
In 2019, when MASA Seed Foundation launched as a 501(c)3 Front Range Community NGO, we inherited seeds of seven locally grown varieties of this wonderful staple root crop. The primary contributors being Abbondanza Organic Seeds and Produce, Aspen Moon Farm and Pachamama Farm and Wellness. Our work is to secure these regionally grown varieties for the local farming and gardening populace. Open pollinated Carrot breeding takes years of selection and crop management. Adapting vigorous varieties to the local environmental conditions is a worthy endeavor for generations to come.Staple root crop /seed variety development contributes greatly to local''food sovereignty! Carrot blooms attract a wide diversity of pollinators making them multi useful understory plants in food forest designs as well as being one of the most nutritious vegetables one can eat.
