Collection: Tomatoes
For most of us - Growing tomatoes is synonymous with Summer gardening. Anticipation of picking and eating these delicious 'culinary fruits' inspires us into another growing season. The tomato's geographic origin is Western and Central South America where the center of diversity is home to a dozen wild species. These endemics bear tiny fruits-from which all modern cultivars were bred from. Evolutionary breeding commenced with pre-Colombian residents of Southern Mexico. Incredibly; the modern tomato retains only 5% of the genome of their ancient ancestors. The most important 5% for size, vigor and disease resistance. MASA'S Tomato program is dedicated to providing well adapted disease resistance, great tasting Front Range cultivars. The seeds we offer are from field selected plants, chosen for these criteria from several generations regionally grown.
