This remarkable multi purpose flint /starch corn has deep historical roots with the Anishinaabe tribal people of Northern Minnesota and up into Bear Island Canada where it got its name. We gratefully received the seeds from Rebecca Gowboy of Finnskogen Farm, whose family lost this corn during colonization. Rebecca reached out to MASA in its inaugural year,  with enthusiasm encouraging us to grow this remarkable old relative. She proudly shared the great virtues of her families traditional corn. After growing Bear Island Flint successfully here in the Front Range we are proud to offer this great North American heirloom.
