Zea mays
Family: Poaceae
This old traditional green tamale corn from Oaxaca Mexico has successfully made it far from its original home. Crops can even be obtained at latitudes as high as 43 degrees north! 8' plants produce upward toward 3,000 pounds/acre of greenish/yellow and even a little blue kernels. Another versatile hard starch variety used for tamales and green tortillas. Well adapted to front range agriculture.
