Ocimum basilicum
Family: Lamiaceae
A nice purple variety that goes a little red as it matures. Hence the name "Rubin". Originally it became the substitute for opal purple basil, a less vigorous cultivar with more purple leaves. So in all actuality it's a reddish purple strain. Nice plants, sweet leaves, lovely flowers. A good pesto variety.
