Amaranthus cruentus
Family: Amaranthaceae
Burgundy's golden sister with golden bronze plumes to 7 feet. Early maturing high yielding tan grain. This all time favorite came directly to us from an elder couple in 1981 as well. I remember them handing a small glass bottle to Gabriel Howearth, my long time teacher in organic agriculture, horticulture and the origins of eatable and medicinal plants of the world. We sowed the new acquisition and while tending watched it produce broad, multi-stalked, golden orange plumes. It became a mainstay for our gardens for generations to come. Amazing high yielding ancient cultivar.
