Phaseolus vulgaris
Family: Fabaceae
Original Central Mexican golden brown dry bean. Northern adaptation began in Montana with early Swedish/American settlers. Plants are very well adapted here in Boulder Colorado and will cook up into a really nice pot of traditional "frijoles de la hoya" (beans plainly cooked in a pot). Mature dry bean plants are high yielding and thresh easily making Indian Woman Gold a great homestead garden variety.
