Matricaria chamomilla
This is the wonderful 'old world' herb that we find in the well known "Celestial Seasonings' 'Sleepy Time' tea. An easy to grow annual, directly sown in early spring. Blooms abundantly over a long period in early summer. Pungent little booms can be picked by hand and dried for well over a month before plants give it up for the season. German Chamomile is known as a self seeding annual so be prepared to see the young seedlings spread about the garden in the following late winter/ early spring, ready to naturalize and provide the family stash of the great calming tea it has become so famous for.
