Sweet Annie is a sweet scented annual species to 6', high in the essential oil artemisinin. and is cultivated for the extraction of such. Commonly used in China to reduce fever. Artemisinin is extensively researched and widely used for curing cerebral malaria. Now cultivated in China, Turkey, Vietnam, Afghanistan, India. Easy to grow here in Boulder. Goes great in wild garden and field borders.
Plant prefers full sun, requires little moisture, and tolerates a wide range of soils, growing quickly to 7 feet, flowering in yellow balls. Traditional usage (WHO): Antimalarial, cancer therapy, widely used to keep virus from replicating.
