The second  largest flowering plant family. Nearly 1,200 Genera and 20,000 species! Further grouped into 4 Subfamilies and 17 tribes. Most species are well adapted to temperate, montane and drier regions. The Asters provide an enormous number of economic plants including herbs ,flowers,vegetables and tubers. I like to describe them as the grand finally in the coevolutionary  fireworks of the flowering plants. So beautiful and widely distributed. The cornerstone of regional botanical gardens for the Rocky Mountain Provence. Sunflowers are native to North America. One of only a few N.A. endemic contributions to the world Food system. The planet is daisy crazy. So are we. Looking forward to new offerings.
